How We Calculate This

This calculator converts your total area (in m²) into the number of boxes of tiles you need to purchase, based on tile size and the number of tiles per box.

Calculation Steps

  1. Calculate the area of one tile: width (m) x height (m)
  2. Tiles needed = total area / area per tile (rounded up)
  3. Add wastage percentage (default 10%)
  4. Boxes needed = tiles with wastage / tiles per box (rounded up)
  5. Leftover tiles = total tiles in boxes - tiles needed with wastage

Common UK Tile Sizes

  • 100 x 100 mm: 44 per box (~0.44 m²/box)

  • 300 x 600 mm: 8 per box (~1.44 m²/box)
