How We Calculate This
This guide recommends the right skip size based on either your estimated waste volume or your project type. We match your requirements to the smallest skip that will comfortably hold your waste.
Skip sizes available in the UK
- Mini (2-yard): 1.5 m³ capacity, ~30 bin bags
- Midi (4-yard): 3.0 m³ capacity, ~45 bin bags
- Builder's (6-yard): 4.6 m³ capacity, ~65 bin bags
- Maxi (8-yard): 6.1 m³ capacity, ~85 bin bags
- Large (12-yard): 9.2 m³ capacity, ~130 bin bags
- Roll-on-Roll-off (16-yard): 12.2 m³ capacity
Project type estimates
When you select a project type, we recommend a skip based on typical waste volumes for that type of job. These are industry averages — your actual waste may vary depending on the scope of work. When in doubt, go one size up to avoid overfilling (which is illegal and the skip company will refuse to collect).
