How much wastage should I allow for vinyl flooring?

Allow 10% wastage for standard rectangular rooms when ordering vinyl or LVT. For sheet vinyl in rooms wider than the roll width (requiring seams), increase to 15%. For LVT tiles and planks, 10% is usually sufficient for straight laying. Complex room shapes or diagonal patterns may need up to 15-20% extra. Do I need underlay for vinyl flooring?

Sheet vinyl does not usually require separate underlay — it should be laid on a smooth, level subfloor. LVT click flooring may include built-in underlay or require a thin 1-1.5mm underlay designed for vinyl. Do not use thick carpet underlay under vinyl.
